FileZilla: You must open these ports
FileZilla is a popular data transfer application. Here you can find out which ports you have to open in order for data exchange to work.
FTP via FileZilla - you need these ports
With FileZilla you can establish an FTP connection between two computers - also over the Internet. In order for this to work, however, you first have to enable the required ports for FTP.
- FTP uses two ports - one for data transfer and one control port.
- As a rule, these are port 20 and port 21, but you can also set other ports. However, these must be known to the client. In addition, the router and firewall must allow communication to these ports.
- If you are not using the standard port, you must also enable two ports. The control port via which the connection is established should be one number higher than the data port. So if the connection is to be established via port 50, you must enable port 50 and port 49.
In the next practical tip, you will learn how to automatically upload changed files with FileZilla.
