FileZilla: Set up SSH - Here's how
With FileZilla you can also log in to your server via SSH if the server accepts the connection type. This practical tip shows you how to set up the corresponding "SSH File Transfer Protocol" (short: SFTP) under FileZilla.
Use SFTP connection in FileZilla
In order for the connection to work, you must have activated SSH access on your server. Most providers have already granted access.
- Open FileZilla and click on the "Server Manager" in the top left.
- Then select "New Server".
- Now you can enter the server data. Usually, the addition "sftp" is placed in front of your server address. It looks something like this: "sftp.ihrserver.com".
- With an SSH connection, port "22" is used.
- Under "Protocol:" select "SFTP - SSH File Transfer Protocol".
- Now just enter your username and password and you can log in to the server using "Connect".
This tip is for FileZilla 3.23. Another article will tell you how to speed up the upload under FileZilla.
