Firebug alternative for Internet Explorer - there are these tools
Firefox users who have used the handy Firebug tool will likely miss an alternative to Internet Explorer. We present two of them here.
DebugBar as a Firebug alternative in Internet Explorer
The closest thing to the Firebug model is the Internet Explorer addon DebugBar. DebugBar is available for download here and can be easily installed using an installer.
- The DebugBar Toolbar, which is displayed at the top of the browser, offers quick access to practical functions such as a color picker, a screenshot function, access to the source code etc. Like all other toolbars, this can be easily shown and hidden.
- The so-called "Development Bar" is the part that strongly reminds of FireBug. Here you can, for example, debug Javascript, check the HTML code for errors or list the HTTP (S) headers. You can also get a practical overview of the Document Object Model (DOM) on the page here.
- It is also nice to be able to subsequently run Javascript code on the page.
Native FireBug alternative with the Internet Explorer Developer Tools
The Internet Explorer Developer Tools are already installed. To display them, press F12 and the menu will appear. The Developer Tools can be found under "Tools" - "Developer Tools".
- For example, CSS can be changed or completely deactivated using the bar that appears below. Alternatively, you can deactivate all images.
- You can display the source code in different versions, for example as a DOM or simply as an original.
- As with the DebugBar, you can validate all elements of the website.
- Very practical, especially for Internet Explorer: You can also call up the website you are viewing in modes that simulate previous versions of Internet Explorer. The versions differ greatly from each other.
The tip refers to Internet Explorer 10 under Windows 8.
