Firefox: Update addons
You can update addons in Firefox with just a few mouse clicks. You can read how to do this in the following practical tip.
Update Firefox addons
In Firefox you have the option to update addons automatically or manually.
- Click on "Tools" and "Add-ons".
- Click on the gear icon and select "Check for updates" here. If there are newer versions of the installed addons, they will be updated automatically.
- Finally click on "Restart now to complete the installation". The changes only take effect when the browser is restarted.
- Tip: Check "Automatically update add-ons". Firefox then checks once a day whether all installed add-ons are up to date.
Update plugins in Firefox
You should also regularly update your plugins so that you can surf the net safely.
- Go to "Extras" and "Addons" in the "Plugins" tab. Click here on the button "Check whether your plugins are up to date".
- You will be redirected to the Mozilla website. Here you can check the status of your plugins and update them if necessary.
Tip: Set the checkmark under "Update add-ons automatically" in the settings. This protects you from intruders and ensures that everything works smoothly in the browser. You have to check the plugins yourself for topicality. It's a good idea to check for updates several times a week. The practical tip refers to Windows 7, Firefox 23.0.
