Firefox: Deactivate automatic downloads - so it'll work
If you do not want a download to start automatically under Firefox, you can - at least partially - deactivate this. In this guide we explain how it works.
Limit automatic download of files in Firefox
- Under Firefox, select the three horizontally arranged menu lines on the right side.
- Then click on "Settings" in the menu and then on "Downloads" under the "General" tab.
- Set the selection to "Ask me every time where a file should be saved".
- The new settings are saved immediately. It is not necessary to restart the browser.
- However, there is a small limitation. Firefox already creates an entry in the download file in the "Temp" directory. Unfortunately, the automatic download of files is not completely disabled.
