Firefox: Deactivate automatic query for password storage
The automatic password storage known from previous versions of Firefox has not been in its original form for several years. Instead, you will only be asked whether you want to save the password or not. However, you can still deactivate this message in the browser settings.
- To do this, open the Firefox menu using the three bars at the top right and call up "Settings".
- A new window is opening up. On the left side you will find the "Privacy & Security" option.
- Under "Browser data protection" remove the check mark at "Questions whether access data and passwords for websites should be saved".
- If you also want to delete all saved passwords, click on "Saved access data ...". Select the desired password here and click on "Remove". Alternatively, remove all passwords with "Delete all".
This article applies to Firefox version 61.0.1 (64-bit). For security reasons, you should make a backup before deleting your passwords. Read how to save and export saved passwords in Firefox.
