Firefox: Disable automatic updates
You can deactivate the automatic installation of updates in Firefox at any time. In this practical tip we will show you how.
Disable automatic updates in the Firefox browser
Firefox's update function can no longer be switched off completely. However, you can determine yourself when the updates should be imported.
- Click the three bars in the top right corner of Firefox and go to "Settings".
- Now a new window opens. The "General" tab is on the left.
- Scroll down to "Firefox updates".
- Here you can now specify that Firefox should search for updates and ask you when they will be installed.
- Your selection is saved immediately. Due to numerous security updates and patches, we recommend that you regularly update Firefox.
This tip applies to Firefox version 65.0 (64-bit). You should also take your privacy seriously when surfing. We will therefore show you how to start private mode in Firefox.
