Firefox: How to clear the browser cache in just 3 steps
If there are problems with the browser, it is often recommended to clear the cache first. Parts of web pages, such as images, are saved in the cache, thus reducing the loading times of the individual pages. If the cache is too full, however, the opposite effect occurs. It is therefore worth emptying it regularly. In Firefox, clear the cache as follows:
- Press and hold the [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [Del] keys. The key combination opens the "Delete recent history" dialog box.
- In the dropdown menu, you specify the period for which the cache should be cleared. If you want to clear the entire browser cache, select "All".
- Open the "Details" menu. Simply click on the button with the downward-pointing arrow to the left of "Details". Place a checkmark next to "Cache", you can remove all other ticks if you wish. Confirm with "Clear Now" to clear Firefox's browser cache.
Android: Clear browser cache in the Firefox app
Regularly clearing the browser cache on a smartphone is also sensible. If you have an Android smartphone, proceed as follows:
- Tap the menu button in the Firefox app in the top right and select the "Settings" there.
- If you tap on "Delete private data" a dialog window opens.
- Activate the "cache" and all other desired options here.
- The "Clear data" button in the lower right corner removes the cache and all other previously selected options.
- In the Firefox app, tap on "Settings" in the menu button at the bottom of the screen on the right.
- Swipe down a little and select the category "Delete private data".
- Activate the cache and tap on the button "Clear private data" below.
- If you then confirm with "OK", the cache is cleared.
In addition to the possibility of clearing the cache, Firefox offers many other functions that are unknown to most. In the next practical tip, we will introduce you to some of them.
