Delete Firefox extensions: Here's how
Extensions in Firefox, the so-called "add-ons", are useful, but can also affect the browser. The small programs can be deleted just as easily as they were installed. You can find out how this works and how you can keep your browser clean and fast in this practical tip.
Delete or disable add-ons in Firefox
- The settings menu for the extensions can be found by clicking on the orange button "Firefox" in the top left and then on "Add-Ons". Alternatively, you can use the key combination [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [A]. Note: In the new Firefox 29 you will find the "Add-ons" menu item by clicking on the three horizontal "Settings bars" in the top right.
- Go to "Extensions". Here you can see all currently installed add-ons of your Firefox browser.
- There are three buttons behind each extension: "Settings", "Deactivate" and "Remove".
- If you select "Deactivate", the add-on is switched off. You can reactivate it at any time.
- If you choose "Remove", the extension will actually be uninstalled and will disappear from your browser entirely. Of course, you can still reinstall them later.
- Restart your browser when you have made all the settings.
