Firefox has stopped working. You can do that
If your Mozilla Firefox has stopped working, there can be a few reasons. We'll show you how to get your browser up and running again.
Firefox has stopped working. Possible solutions
- Check that you have the latest version of the browser installed. To do this, click on "About Firefox" under "Help". If this is not the case, an update will be downloaded automatically. You only have to restart the browser to use it.
- Outdated plugins can also be the cause of the problem. Therefore, check whether your plugins are up to date. To do this, go to the settings in the add-on menu and select plugins here. By clicking on "Update now", outdated plugins will be updated automatically.
- Did you install all Windows updates? Go to the "Windows Update" settings via the Control Panel to find out whether updates are available for your Windows system. If this is the case, install it.
- Check if all drivers are up to date. You can find out in the "Device Manager", which you can also call up via the Control Panel. Right click on a device and select "Update Driver". You can find more information on the manufacturer's website.
- Make sure that Firefox can access the Internet and is not blocked by any antivirus or firewall programs.
- A virus may also be causing your Firefox to stop working. Therefore, check your PC regularly for viruses and malware.
- You can also try resetting Firefox to the default settings if the previous tips were unsuccessful. To do this, click on "Troubleshooting Information" under "Help". On the right side is the button "Reset Firefox ...". After clicking this button, you will be asked again in the next window whether you really want to reset the browser. Confirm with a click on "Reset Firefox". The browser is then closed and reset. An attempt is made to save your settings so that they are not lost.
