Firefox browser hangs - what to do?
- Hardware acceleration may not be designed for your PC. To do this, open the browser settings by clicking on the three lines at the top right and remove the tick under "Activate hardware acceleration" under "General". Then restart Firefox.
- Make sure that all plugins are up to date. The Flash plugin in particular is very susceptible to errors. Type "about: plugins" in the address bar to check if the plugins are up to date.
- In addition, the browser itself should be up to date. To check, click on the three lines at the top right and then on the "?" Symbol at the bottom. Checks for available updates.
- Try to close unnecessary programs while using Firefox. Sometimes the browser is slowed down by other programs.
- If the browser only hangs on downloads, you should first delete the download list. To do this, click on the down arrow and then under "Show all downloads" select "Empty list".
- You should then change the download folder. Switch to "Settings" after clicking on the three lines and enter a folder for the downloads in the "General" tab.
- If these tips don't work, uninstalling the browser completely can help. After uninstalling, manually delete all files and folders that are left and perform a new installation.
