Firefox cannot be opened - what to do?

If Firefox cannot be opened, it quickly leads to despair. In most cases, Firefox is already running in the background, but is not easy to see. In this article we show how you can fix this and other errors and quickly surf again with Firefox.
Firefox cannot be opened: the most common errors and solutions
- If Firefox does not open after a minute or two, you should first go to Task Manager.
- To do this, press the key combination [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [Del] and then click on the entry "Task Manager".
- Then look for "Firefox" in the overview.
- Right-click on it and select "End Task".
- Then click on "File"> "New Task" and enter "firefox.exe" (without quotation marks).
Firefox is still closed: a restart helps
- If you have started a new task with "firefox.exe" but Firefox still does not open, you should restart the computer.
- This will delete temporary settings and Firefox should open normally again.
Firefox profile: folder read-only?
Your Firefox profile folder must not be read-only. Otherwise Firefox can no longer create temporary files there, which is necessary, among other things, at startup.
- Therefore, call the following file path: C: \ Users \ ICH \ AppData \ Roaming \ Mozilla \ Firefox \ Profiles.
- Right click on the folder and select "Properties".
- If there is one, remove the "Read-only" option and click "OK".
Firewall & virus protection: is Firefox blocked?
- In some cases, firewalls or virus protection programs block Firefox - for example, if a malicious tool has nested in the browser and would be executed when Firefox was started.
- As a last resort, you should therefore briefly switch off the firewall and deactivate virus protection. We will show how this works at AVG in another article.
Last aid. Reinstall Firefox
If all of this does not help, you should reinstall Firefox: To do this, you must completely uninstall Firefox and then reinstall it.
Next, you should know how to change the search engine in Firefox. Then, for example, you can always search with Google.
