Firefox Lockbox: How the add-on works
With Lockbox, Firefox offers its own password manager, which is now available as a smartphone app for Android and iOS. Read what this addon can do and how to install it in this practical tip.
Firefox Lockbox: What can the app do?
Firefox Lockbox is a password manager with which you can access the passwords stored in Firefox from your smartphone.
- If you have your password saved in Firefox when you register a website on your computer, it will be automatically added to Lockbox.
- You can now see your passwords on your smartphone in the mobile Firefox browser or use them automatically to log in to apps.
How to set up the app
Lockbox is based on a Mozilla account. You must also have this set up if you want to use all the functions of the browser on your computer.
- If you don't have a Mozilla account yet, open Firefox and select the three dashes in the top right to open the menu. Then select "Sign in to Sync".
- On the following page you can create a new account or register with your previous data.
- When logging in on different pages, the question always appears at the top of the screen whether your password should be saved. If you confirm with "Yes", the password will be saved in the Firefox browser and on your Firefox account.
- Download the Lockbox app and log in with the same Mozilla credentials that you used to log in to Firefox. The Lockbox app is available for Android and iOS.
- After a short setup in the app, the saved passwords are already available.
- In addition, you can determine in the settings whether the appropriate password should be used automatically on websites and in apps.
