Firefox: Change or delete master password
The master password protects your private data in the Firefox browser. We show you how to delete and change the password.
Change master password in Firefox settings
- In Firefox, go to the menu icon at the top right and select "Settings".
- Then click on the "Security" tab and there on "Change master password".
- Enter your old password and the new password twice.
- Save the change with "OK".
Delete master password
If you delete your master password, your saved passwords, private keys and other private data will no longer be protected.
- At the top right click on the menu icon in your Firefox browser and select "Settings".
- Under the "Security" tab, remove the checkmark from "Use master password".
- Now enter your current password and click on "Remove".
