Reinstall Firefox - so it'll work
If Firefox no longer works properly, it usually helps to reinstall the browser. You should note that a simple deinstallation is not always sufficient. We'll show you how to completely remove and reinstall Firefox.
Reinstall Firefox: preparation
Before removing Firefox, you should export the data you still need.
- Bookmarks: Especially if you work a lot with bookmarks, you don't want to do without them after the new installation. We'll show you how to export bookmarks and import them later.
- Add-ons: The small tools in Firefox are practical, but can also cause problems. Write down the add-ons you still need and reinstall them later by hand.
- Passwords: After the new installation, your secured login information is gone. We'll show you how to secure and export your passwords.
Uninstall Firefox: delete all settings
Once you have backed up your data, you can completely remove Firefox. This also works via the control panel, but not all settings and data residues are removed. You should therefore use the free tool "Revo Unistaller", which removes all Firefox remnants.
- Download Revo Uninstaller and install the program on your PC.
- Start the program and select Mozilla Firefox from the list.
- Click on "Uninstall" and confirm with "Yes". In the next window, select the "Moderate" option and confirm with "Next".
- Follow the instructions to uninstall and then click "Next" again to start the search for remaining files.
- Mark all entries, click on "Delete" and confirm with "Yes".
- Complete the uninstallation with "Finish". Firefox is now completely removed from your computer.
