Firefox: plugin is vulnerable and should be updated - what to do?
If Firefox reports the error "Plugin is vulnerable and should be updated", the problem can usually be solved quickly. We'll show you how to get the plugin working again.
Firefox message: Plugin is vulnerable and should be updated
- If Firefox shows a message that the plugin is vulnerable, you either have a very old version or the plugin has been blocked by Firefox for all users. You can fix the problem directly by simply updating the plugin.
- Firefox recently blocked Adobe Flash Player because of a serious security vulnerability. If the manufacturer has not yet published an update, you can ignore the message and wait for the update.
Firefox: Update vulnerable plugin
If Firefox reports an outdated plugin, the procedure is always the same. We will explain it to you using the example of Adobe Flash Player.
- If the message is displayed, click on the "Check for updates" button and then download the available update.
- Alternatively, you can download and install the latest version of Flash Player directly. Even a Firefox update cannot hurt.
- If an update is not yet available and you still want to take the security risk, click "Activate Adobe Flash" in the message. Next to the address line you will now find a plugin symbol. Select it and click "Allow This Time".
