Import Firefox profile from backup - how it works
You can import your Firefox profile if you have previously created a backup. So you can continue surfing with all bookmarks as usual. In this guide, we show you how to import or restore your Firefox profile.
Import Firefox profile: This is how the backup backup works
- To import your Firefox profile, you must first quit Firefox completely.
- Then navigate to the folder C: \ Users \\ AppData \ Roaming \ Mozilla \ Firefox \ Profiles and open the path where your Firefox backup is located.
- If the folders have the same name, you can simply copy your backup over the existing folder into "Profiles". The eight random characters before ".default" must match.
- If the backup and the existing folder in "Profiles" have different names, open the Firefox Profile Manager. To do this, press the [Windows] key and enter "firefox.exe -p" (without quotation marks) in the search field. Confirm with [Enter].
Import profile from backup in Firefox
- Click "Create Profile", select "Next" and enter a name for your profile. Complete the process by clicking on "Finish".
- Navigate back to the folder mentioned above and copy all files from your backup into it. Do not simply copy the "xxxxxxxx.default" folder, only its contents.
- If you start Firefox now, you can use your recovered data.
