Make Firefox Faster - The Best Tips
The popular browser Firefox is pretty fast, but of course you can make it a little faster. We will tell you how you can speed up the Mozilla browser properly.
With these simple steps you can quickly increase the Firefox pace
- In order for Firefox to start quickly, you should select a simple start page, for example your standard search engine or similar. In no case a page with lots of large pictures like magazines, because the browser loses unnecessary time by loading the pictures and graphics. Alternatively, you can have a blank page displayed. You can select the standard page in the "Settings" under "General".
- It is also recommended - and not only because of the speed - to delete the cookies and the history regularly, preferably daily. You can do this manually or set it accordingly in Firefox. The corresponding options can be found in the "Settings" under "Privacy".
- Firefox addons are a nice thing, but some addons slow down the browser unnecessarily. We have described in detail in the practical tip "Firefox: Addon memory usage check" how you can quickly locate the slowdown.
Pro tip: With pipelining in the Firefox Turbo gear
Using the so-called "pipeline" to increase the speed of Firefox significantly is an efficient measure. Ultimately, pipelining is about determining how many page elements of a website are loaded in parallel. However, you should be a little careful when making changes to the configuration file.
- First enter "about: config" in the Firefox address bar. Immediately afterwards, the browser will present you with a corresponding warning. Confirm that you will be careful.
- Then enter "pipe" in the search field so that you do not have to scroll through the entire configuration file. For the entries "network.http.pipelining", "network.http.proxy.pipelining" and "network.http.pipelining.ssl", double-click the value from "False" to "True".
- Then you decide how many requests Firefox should send. Firefox has entered 32 requests by default at "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests". The optimal number of course also depends on your computer and your network connection. Try it first at 50 and then gradually increase if necessary.
- Increase the value at "network.http.pipelining.max-optimistic.requests" from 4 to 8.
- To shorten Firefox's response time, right-click in the configuration file and select "New" and then "Integer" from the pull-down menu.
- In the input field that appears, enter "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" as the property name.
- After you have confirmed your entry with "OK", enter the integer value "0" in the input field and confirm again with "OK".
