If you do not want to be tracked on the Internet, you should block the tracking cookies in Firefox. We'll show you how it works.
Block Firefox tracking with third-party cookies
More and more websites use services such as Google Analytics, which also place cookies on your computer. For example, Google can track your entire route through the Internet. You can prevent this by blocking such third-party cookies:
- To do this, start Firefox and open the menu. To do this, click on the icon with the three horizontal lines at the top right.
- Select "Settings" and switch to the "Privacy" tab in the new window.
- In the "Chronicle" section under "Firefox becomes a chronicle:" activate the option "create according to user-defined settings".
- Additional options appear. In the drop-down menu next to "Accept third-party cookies" select the entry "Never".
- Finally confirm the changes with "OK". Third-party providers such as Google or Facebook can no longer be tracked using cookies.
If you do not want to block all cookies from the start, you can also read out the content and then block individual cookies. This practical tip relates to Firefox 52.6.0.
