Firefox and Chrome: Activate Flash only after clicking
Flash animations usually start without warning in "Firefox" and "Chrome". We explain how you can decide for yourself when the Flash content will be played.
Google Chrome: stop flash without extensions
First download the latest version of "Chrome".
- Click on the menu button at the top right and open the "Settings".
- In the search bar ("Find in Settings"), type "content settings".
- Click on the "Content Settings" entry marked in yellow.
- Scroll down to "Plug-ins". Change the option to "Click-to-Play" (see screenshot).
- From now on, the message "Click to run Adobe Flash Player" appears for Flash content.
Mozilla Firefox: The add-on "FlashBlock" helps
Update "Firefox" to the latest version.
- Download the "FlashBlock" add-on.
- Extract the included ".xpi" file into any folder.
- Open Firefox and click on the orange "Firefox" button at the top left to open the menu. Then move your cursor over "New tab" and select "Open file".
- Now navigate to the folder in which you previously unpacked the ".xpi" file. Mark the file and click on "Open" (see screenshot).
- A window opens, which you confirm with "Install now".
- Finally, click on the "Restart now" button.
- From now on, a flash button appears, which you must click before the animation starts.
- If you have problems with the add-on installation, check out our picture instructions.
