Firefox: Translate websites automatically - so it'll work
In this practical guide, we explain how you can have entire websites automatically translated in Firefox. This enables you to decipher local news, homepages and more even in foreign languages.
Automatically translate web pages in Firefox
- Since Firefox does not offer the translation function in-house, you need an add-on. The easiest way to automatically translate entire websites is with the free FoxLingo extension.
- After installing the add-on, restart the Firefox browser and click on "Add-ons" via the menu icon at the top right of the screen. Under "FoxLingo" select the item "Properties".
- Under the "General" tab, check "Translate immediately when the page loads".
- Under "Normal" you can specify whether the translation should be displayed in the current or in a new tab. Alternatively, you can have it open in a new window.
- Finally confirm the settings with "OK" and restart Firefox. The add-on was tested under Firefox 29.
In Firefox 29, not only the design was revised, the browser brings numerous other innovations. You will find out exactly what these are in the next practical tip.
