Set up firewall settings for jDownloader
In some cases you have to adjust the firewall settings so that the jDownloader works properly. We'll show you exactly how this works here.
Set up jDownloader settings in the router
With many programs that access the network, you first have to enable ports in the router.
- This does not apply to jDownloader: it only uses port 80, which is released for internet use anyway.
Firewall settings for the jDownloader
If you have installed a firewall on your PC, you still have to change a few things:
- In order for the jDownloader to work properly, you must have the files "JDownloader.exe" in the path "C: / Programs / JDownloader", "java.exe" and "javaw.exe" in the path "C: \ Program Files \ Java \ Your_JRE \ am "allow Internet access. The installation directories can vary.
- To enable the services in the Windows firewall, follow this practical tip. In most cases, the Windows firewall is installed and activated by default.
- A firewall is also installed on some Linux systems. You can read here how to configure them on Ubuntu, for example.
- Furthermore, your antivirus program may have activated an additional firewall. That varies depending on the manufacturer and software package. In most cases, however, these are quite easy to configure:
- To do this, click on the small icon of your antivirus program in the task bar and open it. Then look for the entry "Firewall". You may also find this only in the options. Then simply add the three programs above in the "Exceptions list".
This practical tip applies to jDownloader versions 1 and 2. Learn in the next article how to download YouTube videos with the jDownloader.
