Firmware update for Samsung TVs
If you want to keep the software of your Samsung Smart TV up to date, you should update the firmware regularly. We'll show you how it's done.
Step 1: software update for Samsung TVs
There are three methods for updating the firmware: Either you connect the device to the Internet via LAN or WLAN and download the firmware - or you transfer it from your computer using a USB stick. No matter what you choose, the first step is the same:
- Turn on the TV and press the "Menu" button on your remote control. This should be located approximately in the middle of the remote control, to the left of the smart hub symbol.
- Navigate down to the "Help" or "Support" option and select the category with "Enter" on your remote control.
- Go down to "Software Upgrade" and select this option with "Enter".
- You now have the choice between "Online" (step 2) or "Via USB" (step 3). To do this, follow the respective instructions in the two following paragraphs.
Step 2: Update Samsung firmware via the Internet
To be able to download the firmware directly from the television, you must first connect the device to your network via LAN or WLAN.
- If you have selected the "Online" option, the TV searches for available updates. If one is found, you will be asked whether you want to start the download.
- Depending on the size of the file, this process can take a few minutes. Then confirm the installation with "Upgrade now".
- Now do not press any buttons on the remote control and never disconnect the TV from the power. Wait until the television restarts and receives a TV signal again. The upgrade is then complete.
Step 3: Transfer firmware for Samsung TV via USB
If you cannot connect your television directly to the Internet, take the detour via PC:
- Open the following Samsung website and look for your TV type in the lower left corner. To do this, enter the model number and click "Search".
- Then go to the "Firmware" category on the left side of your model's page. If you click on the "EXE" symbol on the right side, the firmware download starts (see picture).
- Now copy the firmware from the PC download directory to a USB stick and start the EXE file with a double click. If you select the "Install" option, the firmware is unpacked on the USB stick.
- Then insert the USB stick into your TV and carry out step 1 if this has not already been done. If you have selected the "via USB" option, confirm with "OK".
- The TV searches the UBS stick for the firmware and installs it. After about 3 minutes, the TV restarts and the installation is complete.
