Area calculation with Google Earth - how it works
An area calculation can be carried out quite comfortably with Google Earth. This practical tip shows you how to calculate an area with just a few mouse clicks.
Area calculation using Google Earth
To have an area calculated using Google Earth, first call up the ruler.
- Activate the ruler either under the menu item "Tools" or by clicking the ruler icon in the toolbar above the map.
- Then use the mouse to select the area whose area you want to have calculated. The more anchor points you set, the more finely you narrow the area.
- In addition to the polygon, you can mark the area to be calculated using a circle.
- In the ruler menu you determine in which size unit the area or the circumference is displayed. You have a free choice from square meters to hectares to square nautical miles.
