Convert FLAC to ALAC - Here's how
We'll show you how to use freeware to convert a FLAC file to ALAC format in just a few steps.
FLAC to ALAC with MediaHuman Audio Converter
With the free MediaHuman Audio Converter you can convert FLAC files to ALAC files in just a few steps:
- Drag and drop the FLAC file into the software.
- Click the Profile field to choose the audio format you want.
- The profile window opens. Select "ALAC" on the left (a) and "original" to encode the FLAC file losslessly on the right (b), or "custom" if you want to change the number of channels or the sample rate.
- Warning: Changing the sample rate always results in losses and / or artifacts, as does the downmix from stereo to mono. Converting a mono FLAC file to a stereo ALAC file is of no benefit. Think carefully about whether it makes sense for your desired application to change the properties of the audio file.
- In contrast to "FLAC", "ALAC" is not a file extension. ALAC is embedded in a container file, typically M4A or MP4.
