Flame writing with gimp - how it works
A font effect like flame writing is an eye catcher that you can easily create with the image editing program Gimp. We show you exactly how this works in this practical tip.
Fiery writing with gimp - how it works
Sharp text with fiery writing that fits. We explain how to create the lettering effect with Gimp and show the steps in the picture gallery.
- Create a new image the size of your choice. The background should be black so that the flames come into their own later.
- Select the text tool and write your text in white color.
- Since the text automatically creates its own layer, right-click on the text layer in the right window and click on "Merge down".
- For the next step you should enlarge the view. Then activate the smear tool from the toolbar and set a soft brush. You can play a little with the size. Now smear the first letter. To do this, hold down the mouse button along the edge of the letter. The aim is to bring blur and shades of gray into play. It shouldn't be perfect or even - flames aren't that either.
- When you are finished with the letter, create small, sweeping flame movements on the top of the text. Repeat this process for each letter until you have smeared the entire word.
- In the last step, open the "Colors - Color Balance" menu and set the following color values: For "Shadows" and "Middle", select +100, +30 and -30, respectively. For "highlights" set +100, 0 and -100. If you confirm your entry, your text will appear in fiery flame writing.
