Flash Player: No sound - it can be because of it
The Flash Player is there to play various multimedia content directly in the browser. In rare cases, however, no sound is reproduced. This can have several causes, but the problem is usually quickly resolved.
No sound during flash playback: Check audio playback on the PC
First of all, you should make sure that the sound reproduction on the PC works at all. This eliminates common problems and errors with the speakers.
- In another article we explain in detail how to find out whether your sound card is defective.
Switch on browser and plugin sound
Windows audio settings allow you to turn the sound on and off for specific applications. The audio playback of your browser or the flash plugin may have been reduced or switched off completely:
- Right-click on the volume control icon in the notification area of the Windows taskbar and select "Open volume mixer".
- Make sure that the sliders for your browser and Adobe Flash Player are not at the lower end of the scale and that the sound is not switched off.
Reinstall Adobe Flash Player
In rare cases, the installation of the Adobe Flash Player may be faulty and the sound reproduction may not work. Then it helps to uninstall the Flash Player completely and set it up again. Be sure to use the latest version of Flash Player.
- To completely remove the Flash player from the computer, you should use the uninstaller tool provided by Adobe.
Customize the registry
If there is still no sound even after reinstalling the Flash Player, you can try to solve the problem by changing the Windows registry:
- Press the [Win] + [R] keys and enter "regedit" (without quotation marks) in the Run dialog.
- Navigate to the path "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Drivers32 \".
- Search for the key "wavemapper" in the right window and make sure that it has the value "msacm32.drv". If this is not the case, you can change the value after a double click.
- If the key is missing, you have to create it manually. To do this, right-click on an empty area in the right window and select "New" -> "String". Enter the name "wavemapper". Double-click on the new entry and enter the value "msacm32.drv".
