Flixbus: Register in the WLAN - how it works
With the Flixbus you travel all over Europe and thanks to WLAN you never have to do without the Internet. This practical tip shows you how to register in the network and what you need to know about long-distance WiFi.
Log in to the Flixbus WLAN
No matter whether smartphone, tablet or laptop - almost all Flixbux long-distance buses have their own WLAN, with which you can access the Internet. Before this works, however, you have to log on to the network.
- To do this, connect to the WLAN of your bus. The network is usually called "Flixbus" or "FlixMedia". Since Flixbus cooperates with MeinFernbus, the network name can also be "MeinFernbus". If in doubt, ask your driver.
- You do not need a password for the WLAN connection; the network is unsecured.
- After you are connected, the Flixbus login page opens automatically. If this is not the case for you, you can also open the website yourself in the browser.
- You will now see the terms of use of the Flixbus WLAN (see screenshot). Check "I have read and agree to the terms & conditions" below and tap "Connect".
- You are then connected to the Internet and can surf as usual.
WiFi in the Flixbus: you need to know that
Although you can access the Internet via WLAN, the connection in the Flixbus is not comparable to that of a home network. Ultimately, the transmitter in the Flixbus only uses mobile Internet.
- As a result, the connection may break down and the speed may drop, especially on the motorway or in the country.
- Please also note that all other passengers have access to the WLAN. Accordingly, the bandwidth is distributed to all registered users. The more you use the WLAN, the slower the connection.
- Data-hungry services such as Netflix or online games therefore rarely work. Flixbus even blocked some websites in order to preserve the bandwidth.
YouTube is also one of the blocked services. With a little trick you can bypass the YouTube lock in the Flixbus.
