Flv codec for the media player - here it is
Thanks to codec packs, you can also play Flv files with Windows Media Player. We show you which codecs are suitable in this practical tip.
Flv codecs for Windows Media Player
By default, the Windows Media Player cannot play Flv files. To play Flash video files anyway, you need a codec:
- "K-Lite Codec Pack": This codec package enables videos to be played in almost all formats. In addition to many useful codecs, a Media Player Classic version is also available for download. You can choose which codecs to use. To do this, simply place a check in front of the desired codec in the "Select Components" window.
- "Windows Essentials Codec Pack": This codec pack is somewhat slimmer than "K-Lite Codec Pack Full", but also offers an Flv codec for the media player. Windows Media Player Classic is also included here.
The all-rounder: VLC player
An alternative to the codec downloads is the media player competitor VLC-Player: This video tool can play almost all formats that are available. After installation, VLC works extremely reliably and serves both as an audio and video player.
