Create flyers with LibreOffice - how it works
With Writer from the LibreOffice package, you can easily create flyers according to your ideas. You can either create the flyer entirely yourself or use a template and adapt it.
Flyer templates for LibreOffice
If you don't feel like creating your own flyer, you can also use a template.
- In the template package for writers you will also find a flyer template.
- Alternatively, you can take a look at the templates on the official LibreOffice website. You will also find some flyer templates there.
- After you have downloaded the template, extract the folder and can then import the flyer template into LibreOffice.
Import flyer template into LibreOffice
- First click on "File" in the main menu and select the "New" option from the pull-down menu.
- Then click on "Templates" and there on the tab "Documents".
- You can either import the flyer into the "My Templates" folder or you can create a new folder especially for flyers.
- Then you have to click on the folder into which the template is to be imported and select the "Import" button.
- Now all you have to do is select the appropriate template and import it with "Open".
- Now click on the folder with your template in LibreOffice and you can open the flyer template with a double click or with the "Edit" button.
Create your own flyer layout in LibreOffice
If you would prefer to completely dispense with third-party templates or if the flyer templates simply do not contain the right one, you can also create the flyer yourself:
- First go to "Format" and select the "Page" option from the pull-down menu.
- Then make the appropriate settings for your flyer format in the "Page template standard" menu. Note: If you have your flyer printed by a print shop, you cannot choose a standard format, but have to add 3 centimeters to all edges.
- On the "Page" tab, you choose either portrait or landscape. In the case of folded flyers, the landscape format has established itself; in the case of small DIN A6 flyers, the portrait format is usually used.
- The "Columns" tab is important for folded flyers, because here you define how many columns your flyer should have and decide on the width and spacing.
- The dividing lines are also not uninteresting for a flyer, because with the help of the dividing lines you can fold the flyers later more easily and, above all, more precisely. However, send the flyer to a print shop if you should not do so.
- Use the "Background" tab to add color or an appealing picture to your fly.
- Once you have completed your flyer, you can of course save it as a template. To do this, open the "Document template" under "File" and then select "Save as template".
- You open the templates yourself by clicking on "File" and then selecting "New" and then "Templates".
If you want to add an individual font to your flyer, that's no problem either. Adding new fonts in LibreOffice is quick and easy.
