Create flyers with OpenOffice - quick guide
If you need a flyer, you can easily create it with the word processor Writer from the OpenOffice package. You can either create the layout of the flyer yourself, or simply use templates for OpenOffice and modify them accordingly.
Create a flyer in OpenOffice with a template
The easiest way to create a flyer in OpenOffice is using a template. The office package already includes some templates, but unfortunately flyers are not among them. However, you can also find corresponding flyer templates on the Internet. We will also show you in another practical tip how you can find even more OpenOffice templates.
- After downloading the template package, first extract the file.
- Then call up Writer and click on "File" in the menu. In the drop-down menu, first select "Document template" and then "Manage".
- If you want to create your own folder for the flyer templates, right-click on "My templates" in the "Manage document template" menu.
- Then use the "New" option to create a new folder into which you can then import the templates.
- To import the flyer templates into OpenOffice, first click on your order flyer and then on the "Commands" button.
- In the pull-down menu you choose the option "Import templates". Then select the directory with the previously unpacking flyer templates and click on "All files (*)".
- Finally click on the folder with the templates and, after you have selected the appropriate template, click the "Open" button.
- To adapt the flyer to your ideas, first go to "File" and "Templates and documents". With a double click you call up the flyer and can now modify it according to your design ideas.
Create flyer template in OpenOffice
If you want to implement special shapes and designs, you can also create a flyer template yourself in OpenOffice.
- If you want to create the flyer yourself, first go to the "Format" menu item and choose "Page" in the pull-down menu.
- You can then make the appropriate settings for the page format of your flyer. In the columns, you first decide - depending on whether your flyer should have two or three pages - for the corresponding number of pages.
- In the "Width and distance" area, deactivate the "Automatic width" option and enter the values that are most suitable for your purpose.
- If necessary, you can finally insert dividing lines so that the flyer can be folded later. With a last click on the "OK" button you confirm your entries.
