The Forest FPS Boost: How to prevent stutters
"The Forest" can use an FPS boost every now and then. The game, which is still in early access, can jerk every now and then. In this article we explain how you can prevent this.
Check the requirements of "The Forest"
To prevent an FPS drop, there are a few things you should do.
- Does your computer meet the minimum requirements for "The Forest"?
- Your computer needs at least one Intel Dual-Core with 2.4 GHz.
- The RAM should not be less than 4 GB. This can especially cause stutters if you have other programs open. So make sure you have enough RAM - we recommend at least 8 GB.
- You should also keep an eye on the graphics card: Jerks can occur under a NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT or a comparable model from AMD.
- With the graphics card, you must also pay attention to the available graphics memory. We will explain to you in another article which criteria you should use to buy a graphics card.
- Also make sure that there is enough space on your computer for the game. It needs 5 GB of storage space. But you shouldn't put it in the last available GB of your hard drive.
- Leave 20-30 GB free so that the hard drive does not become too full and therefore too slow.
So "The Forest" runs as smoothly as possible
To get an FPS boost in "The Forest" you should consider the following things. If your computer meets the minimum requirements above, you shouldn't have any problems with your FPS.
- Your computer should at least meet the above criteria so that the game runs smoothly.
- If you want, you can of course also follow the recommended system requirements. This is how you get an FPS boost, because your PC then has the best possible components.
- The recommended requirements include a quad core processor, 4 GB RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560.
- If you can still detect stutters despite the necessary hardware, there can be several reasons.
Reasons for stuttering at "The Forest"
- If you are the host of a co-op game, you must ensure that you have a stable internet connection.
- If this is not enough to run a server with 8 people, you should have someone else host it.
- The lags and FPS drops caused by the host also affect the gaming experience of everyone on the server.
- In addition, the graphics settings could still be incorrect.
- Since the game is still in early access, there are some settings that do not work properly.
- Always be careful with the shadow settings. In many cases, these cause stutters, since the calculations can be too complex for ordinary graphics cards.
- Limiting the frame rate can also be very helpful. Otherwise there may be larger frame drops as the system tries to display as many images as possible per second.
- If your game just stutters when entering a cave, don't worry: this is still normal at the moment and is because the new area has to be reloaded.
- The same applies if you leave the cave again.
- For an FPS boost, you should play around with the settings before you buy new hardware. Maybe the FPS drops are only due to the graphics settings.
