Fortnite lies: You can do that
If Fortnite is stuck playing, it's always annoying. Here we explain what you can do about it.
What helps with Fortnite lags
It happens with some PCs that Fortnite is lagging and a smooth gaming experience is often not possible. In most cases, the problems can be fixed quickly. Below we explain what you can do about it.
- Check for updates: Exit Fortnite again and check the launcher to see if an update is available.
- Check Internet connection: Check whether you are loading websites at normal speed. You can also perform a ping test via the Windows console (cmd) to check the general ping times. If necessary, restart your router.
- Check your computer: Check to see if other programs are running in the background that may be consuming a lot of power and exit them. It is particularly important to check whether another program is currently downloading. Clean up your PC with the CCleaner.
- Server overloaded: The lags can also arise from overloaded Fortnite servers. In this case, you cannot do anything else. Wait a bit and try playing a new round later.
- Select correct server region: Check in Fortnite's settings whether you have selected the correct server region. For an optimal gaming experience and short ping times, you should choose a region that is closest to your location. For Germany this would be the Europe region.
- Tip: restart your computer and only run the game. This is how you ensure optimal resource availability for Fortnite.
