Activate Fortnite two-factor authentication: Here's how
With Fortnite two-factor authentication, your account is doubly protected. You can read how to set up the function in this practical tip.
How do I enable two-factor authentication for Fortnite?
Fortnite is part of Epic Games and your user account is managed by the developer. For two-factor authentication, you have to adjust the security settings for your Epic Games account accordingly.
- Visit the Epic Games website.
- Click on "Login" in the top right corner and enter your username and password.
- Use the mouse to navigate to your user name in the top right corner and click on "Account".
- Now switch to the "Password & Security" menu in the account settings.
- Scroll down to the "Two-factor authentication" section.
- You now choose either "Activate Authentication App" or "Activate Email Authentication". If you select the app, you will receive a code on your smartphone when you try to log in, which you also enter in addition to the password. If you select the email authentication, you will receive the code by email.
Two-stage registration offers these advantages
Two-factor authentication has these advantages:
- Your account is not only protected by your password, which a hacker could possibly crack.
- Instead, when logging in from another computer, you also have to enter a code that - depending on your preference - is sent to your smartphone or to your e-mail inbox.
- A hacker would not only have to crack your password, but also have access to your email inbox or smartphone in order to access your Fortnite account.
- To make your account more secure, you will also receive the boogie-down emote in Fortnite.
