Photography: the shutter speed - what is it?
In this practical tip, we will explain what is meant by a shutter speed in photography.
That means the shutter speed in photography
In photography, the shutter speed is the exposure time. This is regulated using the camera shutter and can be triggered both mechanically and electronically. A distinction is made between short and long shutter speeds.
- Automatic: The term "Auto" denotes the automatic exposure. If this is set on your camera, the shutter speed is automatically adjusted. You do not have to do anything else and can fully concentrate on taking pictures.
- Long time: If you want to shoot the photos with a slow shutter speed, you have to set the designation "B" (also called "Bulb") or "M" (manual). The shutter on your camera will open as long as you hold the trigger.
- Short-term: You can also set the shutter speed briefly and thus do the opposite of the long-term variant. For this you need the "X" setting on your camera. It is the so-called flash synchronization time.
