Foxit Reader: Copy text - how it works
With the Foxit Reader you can easily copy texts from your PDF files. This practical tip shows you what you need to consider.
Copy texts with the Foxit Reader
- Start Foxit Reader and open any PDF file.
- Navigate to the "Home" tab at the top of the menu.
- Click the Mark Text icon in the upper left.
- Now mark the section of text in your PDF document that you want to copy.
- Then click with the right mouse button on the text and select the item "Copy". Alternatively, you can also use the key combination [Ctrl] + [C] to copy.
- You can then paste the copied text into another text document using the key combination [Ctrl] + [V].
Check copy permission of the PDF file
You cannot always copy the contents of a PDF file. In many cases, the affected document is copy-protected and you cannot therefore edit it. So it's best to check the properties of the PDF file beforehand:
- Click the "File" menu item in Foxit Reader. A new page opens with the properties of the document.
- Go to the "Security" tab. Under "Content copying for accessibility" you can see whether you can copy the text from your PDF document.
If you would like to make the text unrecognizable afterwards, we will show you in another practical tip how to blacken words in Foxit Reader.
