Freenet: Login does not work - that may be the reason
If the login to Freenet does not work, there can be several reasons. We'll show you how to solve the problem.
Login to Freenet is not possible - that can help
- Check your email address and password again carefully. If you are not sure about the password, you should reset it. You will find suitable instructions in the next paragraph.
- If the password has been entered incorrectly three times, the account will be blocked for 10 minutes. Every further unsuccessful attempt extends the lock by another 10 minutes. If you have tried to log in very often, you have to wait a few minutes.
- If you have not logged in to Freenet for a year, your email address will be deleted and can be reassigned. This is also the case if you have always forwarded your emails.
- If there is a temporary problem in your browser, delete both the cookies and the cache. We show you how this works in this practical tip.

Freenet: Request a new password
- Enter your email address on the following Freenet website and click the "Next" button.
- Depending on the setting, you can then have a new password sent to you by SMS or email.
- Alternatively, send the following application by fax or post to Freenet.
