With a WLAN repeater you can increase the range of your wireless network. This practical tip shows you how to connect the Fritz WLAN Repeater 310.
Connect the Fritz WLAN Repeater 310 with the WPS button
The WPS button is the fastest and easiest way to connect your Fritz WLAN Repeater 310 to the existing network. If your WLAN router does not have a WPS function, you will find instructions in the next section.
- First plug the repeater into a socket within the range of your existing WLAN router and wait until the power LED and the WLAN LED on the device light up continuously.
- Then press the WPS button on the Fritz WLAN Repeater 310 for about a second.
- Now you have to trigger the WPS function of your router within the next two minutes. Normally, this is done by pressing the WPS button on the WLAN router for a longer period. Sometimes this also works via the web interface.
- As soon as one or more signal strength LEDs light up on the repeater, the device is connected to your WiFi network.
Set up the WLAN amplifier manually
You can also set up the Fritz WLAN Repeater 310 without WPS.
- Plug the Fritz WLAN Repeater 310 into a socket and make sure that the device is within range of your existing WLAN network.
- Wait until the power LED and the WLAN LED on the device light up continuously.
- Then take a WLAN-capable device like your smartphone or notebook at hand and connect to the "FRITZ! WLAN Repeater" network. Enter the zero eight times as the password ("00000000").
- If the network does not appear, reset the WiFi repeater to factory settings.
- Then call up the user interface of the repeater by entering "//fritz.repeater" or "//192.168.178.2/" in the browser.
- Here you are asked to set up a password for the web interface. This has nothing to do with your WLAN password, but is required for changes to the configuration of the repeater. Remember the password.
- Now select the "WLAN bridge" mode and click on "Next".
- Now click on your existing WiFi network and enter the password for it. Then click "Next" and "Finish" to save your settings.
- As soon as one or more of the signal strength LEDs on the repeater light up, it is connected to the existing WLAN network.
