Use Fritzbox as an NTP server - how it works
In many cases it is helpful to have an NTP server in the network. In this practical tip we show you how you can use your Fritzbox as such.
What is an NPT server?
- NTP stands for "Network Time Protocol" and is a protocol for transmitting the current time. You can read what a network protocol is in this practical tip.
- An NTP server is helpful when different network devices should work at exactly the same time.
- NTP can only be used by devices that also support the protocol.
Use Fritzbox as an NTP server - how it works
- Open the user interface of the Fritzbox and log in.
- Click on "Home Network" in the menu on the right, then on "Home Network Overview".
- Now press »Network settings« in the top right and scroll down to the menu item "Time synchronization".
- Now activate the checkbox at "Provide FRITZ! Box as time server in the network". The NTP server is now activated.
- You can now use the NTP service by specifying the IP address of your Fritzbox on the devices as a time server.
