Fritzbox: Set up call-through - how it works
To save money on the phone, you can activate and set up the call-through functions in the Fritzbox. How this works and in which situations Callthrough is worthwhile can be read in this practical tip.
Set up call through at the Fritzbox
With Callthrough you can set up your calls over a cheaper telephone line. For example, if you would like to make a call abroad from your cell phone, first call your Fritzbox and then connect to the desired number using the cheaper landline tariff. For this to work, you must first set up Callthrough:
- Open the user interface of the Fritzbox and click on "Telephony" (see video).
- There you select the "Call handling" sub-item and then switch to the "Call through" tab.
- Check the "Activate call through" option.
- Under "Call number incoming" you select the number for which you want to enable call through and under "Call number outgoing" the one via which the Fritzbox should forward the calls.
- Now enter a four-digit number in the "PIN" field under "Security Settings". Callers must enter this PIN on the phone in order to have a call forwarded via the Fritzbox.
- If only certain callers are to be authorized to use callthrough, activate the option "Only accept calls from the following numbers". Then enter the phone numbers with area code.
- Finally save your settings with "Apply".
- To do this, call the phone number you have set for Callthrough.
- As soon as you hear the signal tone, enter the previously defined PIN on your phone.
- If you would like to be connected via the Fritzbox, dial 0, as the automatic outside line is deactivated in Callthrough. As soon as you hear the ringing tone, enter the destination number with area code.
- If you want to reach a telephone that is connected to the Fritzbox, dial the internal number of the desired telephone instead.
On the next page we will tell you what you can do if your Fritzbox phone is always busy.
