Transfer Fritzbox settings - how it works
You can easily transfer your personal FritzBox settings to another FritzBox. We'll show you what to look out for.

If you set up a router again, it can quickly take several hours. Port shares, MAC filters and other settings must be set again by you. If you only want to change the FritzBox, this is faster, because you can save your settings and transfer them to the new device:
- Open the FritzBox web interface. To do this, type "fritz.box" in the address bar of your browser. If necessary, log in with your password.
- Click "System" on the left and then "Backup". Then select the "Save" tab.
- Now enter any password in the existing field and then click on "Save". Save the file with the extension ".export" on your PC. This contains all the settings of your Fritzbox. Make sure to remember the password - you will need this as soon as you want to restore the data.
- If you now set up your device again or buy a new model, you can restore the settings from the backup file. To do this, press the "Restore" tab in the same menu.
- If you have switched to a newer model, activate the item "from a FRITZ! Box of another model". Otherwise the first point is correct (see screenshot).
- Enter the previously set password in the field and click on "Select file". Now navigate to the backup file and complete the process with "Restore".
- If you import the configuration of another model, a menu may appear in which you can select certain settings that are compatible with the model. Simply set the desired check mark here and start the process.
The backup is practical if you have forgotten your password for the FritzBox web interface. We'll show you what to do in this case.
