Fritzbox: Block Mac address - how it works
So that nobody can use your WLAN without authorization, you can block external MAC addresses in your Fritzbox. We'll tell you how to do it.
Block MAC addresses in the Fritzbox
You cannot block individual MAC addresses in the Fritzbox. A so-called MAC filter can be activated for this. Here you only enter the MAC addresses of the devices that are allowed to use your WLAN. All other MAC IDs are blocked and cannot connect to your router.
- First open the user interface of the Fritzbox in your browser and log in with your password.
- In the left column click on "WLAN" and then on "Security".
- There, scroll down to the section "Restrict WiFi access".
- Check the box at the bottom of "Limit WiFi access to known WiFi devices".
- Now click on "Add WLAN device" and enter the MAC address of your device. Repeat this step for all devices that will later use the network.
- Finally save your changes with "Apply". After that, all external MAC addresses are blocked.
