Until now, fiber optics were only the backbone of the communication networks, but FTTH will soon also be offered to end customers. You can check the availability of the transmission medium for your place of residence online.
FTTH: How to check the availability of the high-speed connection
FTTH means "Fiber to the Home", that is, glass fiber also for the end customer.
- In addition to Deutsche Glasfaser (as of December 2019), Telekom, Vodafone, Unitymedia, EWE, M-net and Osnatel as well as some regional providers such as NetCologne or NetAachen offer fiber for private customers.
- At 1 & 1 you can only use FTTH as a business customer.
- You can check the availability of FTTH on the respective website at all of the providers mentioned.
- On the Deutsche Glasfaser website, for example, you can check whether FTTH is already available at your home by entering your address.
- However, the network has not yet been expanded over a large area. For many, entering the postcode will already be the end. If your place of residence is not included, you will not even get to the street.
- It is not yet known when the high-speed fiber will be available across the board. However, more providers will surely be added gradually and the FTTH network will be further expanded.
