Wireless mouse does not work - it can be because of it
Wireless mice are common because they save a lot of cable clutter. But what if the wireless mouse doesn't work properly? We give various tips for problem solving.
Wireless mouse no longer works: The most common mistakes and solutions
Even if wireless mice are now very reliable, they always bring small problems with them. However, you can quickly fix most of them yourself:
- First check whether the batteries used still have sufficient charge. If the mouse is no longer supplied with power, annoying dropouts occur.
- In addition, the range between the mouse and the receiver should not be too great. Use the manufacturer's recommendations as a guide. Especially with mice with Bluetooth technology, stuttering can occur after just a few meters.
- Other wireless devices, such as baby phones or cellular phones, can be disruptive if they are near the mouse and transmit on a similar frequency. This can be a problem, especially if you use other wireless mice in the immediate vicinity.
- Then try to switch off the relevant devices as a test and check whether the mouse then works properly again. Alternatively, you can change the radio frequency for some mice. You can usually find information on this in the operating instructions.
- Last but not least, you should switch your mouse and computer off and on again. Sometimes there are small bugs in the system that are fixed.
- If that doesn't work either, contact the manufacturer or seller of your wireless mouse. Then there is probably a hardware defect that you cannot easily solve yourself.
If that still doesn't help, the last thing to do is reinstall the mouse on the PC:
- To do this, open the Device Manager in Windows, search for "Mice and other pointing devices" and right-click on the mouse. Then go to "Uninstall".
- Then disconnect the receiver from the PC and connect it again to initiate a fresh installation of the drivers.
- If that doesn't work either, contact the manufacturer or seller of your wireless mouse. Then there is probably a hardware defect that you cannot easily solve yourself.
