Windows 10 is in the starting blocks and brings with it considerable system requirements. This article will tell you whether the new Windows works on your PC and how you can check it yourself.
Check PC requirements for Windows 10
If you have already installed Windows 7 or Windows 8, you can use the Windows 10 Updater to check whether your computer is suitable for the new system:
- For some time now, you have found a white Windows icon in your taskbar with the title "Download Windows 10". Click on it to open the "Get Windows 10" app.
- Open the menu by clicking on the "burger icon" with the three lines at the top left and select the item "Check PC".
- After a short loading time, you will find out whether Windows 10 works on your PC.

Check Windows 10 system requirements
If you have neither of the two current versions of Windows installed, you can also use the system requirements to check whether Windows 10 works for you. Further data and which programs are not supported can be found on the official Microsoft website.
- CPU: You need a processor or SoC with at least 1 GHz.
- RAM: With RAM you should have at least 1 GB for the 32-bit version or 2 GB for 64-bit.
- Hard disk space: For Windows 10 32-bit you need at least 16 GB, for the 64-bit version it is 20 GB.
- Graphics card: Your graphics card should support DirectX 9 or higher with the WDDM 1.0 driver.
- Screen resolution: Microsoft specifies 1024 × 600 pixels as the minimum resolution.
