G Data: Switch off "Download is being checked" - how it works
If you use G DATA security software, each download is automatically checked for viruses before downloading. The disadvantage is that the scan often results in longer download times. If it is necessary to speed up the process, we present two options here.
Disable checking of downloads in G Data in general
Scanning downloads with G Data can delay the whole process. If you want to activate the security check, proceed as follows:
- Open the program and navigate to "Settings"> "AntiVirus"> "Web Protection".
- Remove the tick from "Process Internet content (HTTP)" and confirm your selection with "Apply".
- In order not to open a door for viruses and other pests, you should not activate this option permanently. In the next paragraph you can read how you can switch off the checking of downloads using an exception rule.
Disable checking of downloads using the exception rule
If you download data from secure sources, you can whitelist the corresponding URLs. The download from these pages is then no longer checked:
- To add a website to the whitelist as an exception, click the "Set exceptions" button.
- Click "New" to add an address.
- An input mask then opens, in which you can now enter the URL of the website. Confirm your entry by clicking "OK".
- Finally, click "OK" again to apply all changes to the list.
- To delete a website from the whitelist, simply mark the address in the list and then click on "Delete".
