G Data Firewall: Enable ports - how it works
You can enable or block ports with the G Data Firewall. This works with the help of the so-called rule sets of your firewall. We'll show you how to edit the ruleset for your network and how to release certain ports.
Enable ports in the G Data Firewall
- Start the G DATA SecurityCenter and click on "Firewall" or the firewall icon in the bar at the top.
- Go to "Networks" in the left pane.
- Select the network you are using with one click. It is the network on which the rule set "Direct connection to the Internet" is displayed.
- Click on "Edit".
- In the next window go to "Edit rule set" and then select the option "Enable or block network services".
- Now you can specify the desired port and the associated protocol that you want to release. Then click on "Next".
- Set the "Access" to "Allow" and confirm the changed rule with "Finish".
