Cheap heating is not that difficult. We'll show you 7 tricks that will help you save on heating costs and still get you through the winter warm.
Heating costs: These tricks save you money in winter
- Only heat where it is necessary : in winter you do not have to heat the entire house. You save a lot of heating costs if you restrict yourself to the rooms in which you often stay. Bathroom and hallway are certainly not one of them. A temperature of 18 degrees ensures healthy sleep in the bedroom. So all you have to do is set the heating to 21 degrees in the living room.
- Do not deliver the radiator: the couch in front of the radiator may look nice, but it does drive up the cost of heating. Provide a clear view of the radiator. Only then can they release the heat into the room.
- Vent the radiator: If there is a gurgling sound in the radiator, it will not get really warm, even though the heating is running at full speed. In this case you should vent the radiator. You can also find instructions on how to vent a heater from us.
- Adapting clothing to the season : heating costs can be easily reduced if you adapt your clothing to the season in your own four walls. That doesn't mean you have to sit at the table with your down jacket. However, only a T-shirt doesn't have to be. You don’t have to heat that high to put on a sweater or sweatshirt. Warm feet are very important. You get them with nice warm socks. If you want to knit these yourself, our sock table is certainly helpful.
- Sealing windows and doors : Only heat the apartment and not nature. So that the heat stays in the house, check the tightness of your windows. We will also show you how to seal windows if necessary. You should close room doors and provide them with a draft stopper.
- Peak ventilation : You should also ventilate the apartment in winter. Instead of tilting the windows - which doesn't really air anyway - you should ventilate several times a day, i.e. open the windows fully for a few minutes. Turn the heating down before ventilating and then turn it up again.
- Eat yourself warm : As banal as it sounds - the right food will make you warm. Cook regularly and heat the kitchen, which in turn also saves heating costs and thus money. Warm meals also give the body warmth. It gets really warm when you cook spicy dishes. We will clarify whether spicy food is healthy in another article. So much can be said: It definitely makes you happy.
