Galaxy S2 hangs when booting - what to do?
If your Samsung Galaxy S2 hangs while booting, it is very likely that the boot loader has an error. This article shows you how to get your S2 working again.
Galaxy S2 hangs at boot: flash original firmware
You do not necessarily need the Android user interface to flash firmware. You can also reset your cell phone to the factory settings using appropriate software from Samsung. All you have to do is put your mobile phone in "Download Mode" and flash the Stock ROM.
- Firmware: At the beginning you have to download the original firmware. You can find them under Samsung updates or SamMobile. However, you have to register for the latter. The model name for the Samsung Galaxy S2 is "I9100", the region name for Germany is "DBT". As there are different models of the S2, please check the type label below the battery for safety reasons. There are specially adapted firmwares for mobile phone providers such as E-Plus or Telekom.
- Driver: Make sure that the latest drivers for your smartphone are installed on the PC. If you used Samsung's Kies software earlier, the drivers are already installed.
- Odin: Download the Odin program. No installation is necessary for the execution.
- Download mode: Next you have to put your phone in a certain mode so that you can flash a firmware. At the beginning, your smartphone must be off. You can now access the download mode by simultaneously pressing the [Volume down] + [Home] + [POWER] buttons. Confirm the warning with [Volume up].
- Flash firmware: Connect your smartphone to the PC and then start Odin. A field should now be highlighted in color under "ID: COM". In the PDA field, open your firmware, which is in the format ".tar" / ". Md5". Click on "Start" to start the flash process. The factory firmware is then installed on your smartphone. All your internal data will be lost. The SD card is not affected.
