Make the Galaxy S4 faster - with these tricks it works
The Galaxy S4 belongs to the older Samsung generation and runs a little sluggishly every now and then. This practical tip shows you how to make your S4 faster.
Make the Galaxy S4 faster: the best tricks
- Uninstall apps: Apps that you don't need take up unnecessary space and processor power. Delete all apps that you don't need.
- Close apps: If you open an app, it will continue to run in the background, even if you switch back to the home screen. Over time, many background apps accumulate and occupy the cache of your Galaxy S4. You should therefore close background apps regularly.
- Restart: Most people rarely turn off their cell phones. A mistake, because the restart is a soft reset, which deletes unnecessary temporary data from the cache and makes the smartphone faster. Restart your phone as soon as it slows down.
- Switch off widgets: Widgets on the start screen are practical, but they also slow the smartphone down. The more widgets you use, the more processor power is used by the home screen. We'll show you how to delete unnecessary widgets.
- Updates: You should regularly install available updates. Android updates often give a pace boost. In addition, security gaps are closed.
- Turn off background data: Many apps update data in the background. This makes sense for messengers like WhatsApp, for many other apps the update not only eats the battery, but also processor power. You will find an overview of these apps in the settings under "Data consumption". Tap the applications for which you want to restrict background data. At the bottom you will find the "Limit app background data" option.
Pro tip: adjust developer options
If you dare to interfere with the developer options on your Galaxy S4, you can screw on the performance of your smartphone. Please note that you are interfering with the system settings of your device. You should be sure of what you do by changing a setting before you make it.
- To be able to customize the developer options, you need to activate developer mode on the Galaxy S4.
- Open the system settings and tap on "Options". Here you will find the item developer options. Tap on it.
- Under "Drawing" you will find settings for "Windows animation size", "Transition animation size" and "Animation duration scale".
- These options control animation when opening and closing apps. By default, all values are set to 1.0. Set it to 0.5 to limit the animation, or to 0 to turn it off completely. After that, opening and closing looks less dynamic, but your Galaxy S4 gains speed.
